About ecoLogical Home Ideas

Green Earth

Like so many things in life, having an ecoLogical home is a goal, not a destination. There is no such thing as the perfect ecoLogical home. But, no matter what climate, region or type of home you have, we’ll regularly deliver innovative ideas you can use to build a healthier home for your family. ecoLogical Home Ideas magazine strives to be your resource and idea center for healthy, green & sustainable home building and remodeling.

We tell the stories of pioneering homeowners who have remodeled, built, or renovated their ecoLogical home from their attic to their basement, and everything in between. We also show appropriate products and techniques that you can employ in your own home, whatever kind of home that may be. We discuss solutions to issues unique to ecoLogical homes, such as financing, insurance, permitting, resale value, up-front costs and more.

We use your feedback through letters, emails, and polls, as well as input from the many organizations committed to sustainable building and our professional Advisory Council, to decide what stories to tell next. So please contact us whenever you have an idea, question or comment!

For the purpose of this magazine and web site, “green” is defined as a description of any technique or product that excludes practices and/or materials that are or could reasonably be harmful to the earth and its inhabitants. “Sustainable” means utilizing resources in a manner that meets present needs without compromising the needs of future generations. This includes reduce/reuse/recycle policies, cradle-to-cradle design, use of renewable materials and the efficient use of all resources in both materials production and the building process itself.

Check us out to see the technologies, products and methods of production that exist to address the many problems with our current homes. The most visible of these, solar panels and wind turbines, just scratch the surface of all the products and technologies available. Insulation, energy usage, water handling, roofs, building materials, lighting, landscaping, construction waste reduction, design efficiency, site selection, universal design and smart community growth are just a few features that can be greened. But green homes don’t have to look different from any other home. There are plenty of existing green products to give you ample choice while increasing its resale value.

Shaklee Corporation

As the number one natural nutrition company in the U.S., we’ve been making people healthier for over 50 years.  And we’ve made it part of our job to make the planet healthier along the way.

We were doing it back when green was just a color and biodegradable was barely a word.  In fact, as early as 1960, we made one of the first biodegradable household cleaners ever.  And we were the first company in the world to obtain Climate Neutral™ certification and totally offset our CO2 emissions, resulting in a net zero impact on the environment.

We do what we do because we think it’s essential to do our small part as part of the movement to make people and the planet healthier.  In doing so, we believe each of our contributions put together will create the major change we wish to see in the world.

WorldChanging.com works from a simple premise

http://www.worldchanging.com/

WorldChanging.com works from a simple premise: that the tools, models and ideas for building a better future lie all around us. That plenty of people are working on tools for change, but the fields in which they work remain unconnected. That the motive, means and opportunity for profound positive change are already present. That another world is not just possible, it’s here. We only need to put the pieces together.
